James B. Bachmann Retired Managing Partner of Ernst & Young, Columbus, Ohio

James B. Bachmann, retired Managing Partner of Ernest & Young, Columbus, Ohio, was part of the Ernst & Young organization for 36 years (26 years as a partner), serving in 5 cities in various management and account leadership roles.

Bachmann served for 11 years as managing partner of Ernst &Young's Columbus location with approximately 15 partners and 200 professionals. He also served as senior advisor to CEO's and Boards of significant accounts and led the Big 4 accounting firms' Ohio legislative initiative for 11 years with particular focus on tort reform and accounting industry issues.

Prior to his tenure in Columbus, Bachmann was with Ernst & Young in New York City and served as U.S. National Director of Human Resources during the integration of the merger of the Ernst & Whinney and Arthur Young accounting firms.

Bachmann, a graduate from John Carroll University with a degree in business, has served in leadership positions in numerous community organizations and fundraising committees. He also served 2 years as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps in Kassel, Germany as a platoon leader and company commander before returning to the University of Akron MBA program prior to joining Ernst & Young.
