One Day A Year!

If you were with us at this year's Raymond E. Mason, Jr. Leadership Symposium you know it was an exciting day full of great leadership. If you weren't able to attend, we can share some of the excitement with you.

The Symposium began with a panel of women leaders, moderated by Marsha Ryan and included Major General Deborah A. Ashenhurst, Kathy Krendl, Representative Cheryl Grossman, Elfi Di Bella, and Cheryl Krueger. The panel explored Women As Leaders and what role, if any, gender plays in leadership. All shared their personal leadership experiences, but the answer may be best stated in a quote read by Major General Ashenhurst;

"My experience confirmed that effective leadership is based upon a number of factors - not one of them being gender."

- Army Colonel Paul Grosskruger,
Commander 94th Engineer Battalion,
Operation Iraqi Freedom

Many words were used in advance to describe our luncheon speaker, Byron Stripling. Lively, entertaining, informative, and inspiring are just a few and he lived up to every one of them, and more.

It is interesting to note how many of the themes from the breakout speakers were also covered by Byron in his presentation. If we had to select only one message from what Byron said it is the importance of daily practice.

And lastly, so you won't miss next year's Mason Leadership Symposium, it will be on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 (worth putting on your calendar today).

A special thank you to all of our speakers and those who attended - investing one day a year in their leadership.
