Retail Is Detail

Posted on January 27th, 2012

Sitting across the breakfast table from Steve Davis, Chairman and CEO of Bob Evans Farms, Inc., you get the distinct impression that he is a man in motion. You can feel his energy.

It is obvious he knows the people at the local Bob Evans (as they freely talk to him, letting him know of their progress) and you get the impression he spends a lot of days, nights, and weekends in his restaurants.

He says “retail is detail,” while he enthusiastically tells you about the changes underway. But, more important than the physical changes are the changes in the people. He expects his leadership team to follow his example and he expects, encourages, and develops all the people in the organization to handle the increased complexity that results from the changes.

He has agreed to share with us his high energy leadership philosophy at our next Hall Leadership Lessons, Thursday February 9th at 7:30 am in Ross Auditorium on Franklin University’s downtown campus. We hope you can attend. Click here to register.

In the meantime, remember retail (like leadership) is detail.
