About the Center

our leadership mission

The Franklin University Leadership Center is dedicated to raising the level of leadership in business, nonprofit organizations, government and educational institutions throughout central Ohio - as both a catalyst and a major resource for leadership.

The idea for a Leadership Center was first presented to the Franklin University Board of Trustees in July 2002.  From its very beginning the goal of our Center has been to raise the level of leadership in central Ohio across all sectors (business, community, government, and educational institutions) and levels, from new to highly experienced leaders..

Three community leaders, Libby Ross, Raymond E. Mason, Jr., and Eldon Hall shared in the vision and provided the encouragement, support, and resources critical to taking the first steps.  Our initial program was the Raymond E. Mason Jr. Leadership Symposium in April 2004.  Offered annually it has become the focal point for our efforts.  Not content with only coming together once a year, the community asked for, and we responded with, our monthly Hall Leadership Lessons.

In 2007, with an Executive Director dedicated to the Center, we began creating leadership development programs specifically designed for organizations and individuals who wanted to raise their level of leadership.  Based on input from experienced professionals and built on the higher levels of leadership themes we created leadership programs that have led to our innovative and unique Leadership Institutes.

What Makes Us Unique?  While many offer leadership development programs, only a few are willing and able to measure their effectiveness.  Likewise, most do not provide opportunities to assess an individual participant’s learning.  And only our Institutes (up till now) reinforce an individual’s leadership development through specifically designed exercises and activities that support our leadership practice principles, concepts, and ideas. Today our Leadership Center is making a significant difference in central Ohio and beyond. We have innovative programs (Mason Leadership Symposium, Hall Leadership Lessons, and our Leadership Institutes) and significant resources (over 100 recorded leadership presentations and books available through our Franklin University Leadership Press) that can raise your level of leadership.

To gain a greater understanding of how our unique programs and resources can play a key role in your leadership development efforts we encourage you to explore our website in greater detail.
